Four Generations of Memories

Wild Rose Ranch
ROOTED IN TRADITION BUILT FOR THE HUNT
Uncle Pudd’s Cabin is a Texas hunting ranch that’s been in the family for four generations. What started as a private spot for chasing wild hogs and deer has grown into a full outdoor retreat with a stocked lake, shooting ranges, and wide-open pastures.
Hunting remains the heartbeat of this land. From archery-only deer hunts to squirrel safaris and 4-day hog packages, we offer something for seasoned hunters and first-timers alike. And when the guns are put away, there’s plenty more to enjoy — fishing, trail riding, campfire cooking, and catching fireflies with the kids.
About Us
- MISSION AND VALUES -
At Uncle Pudd’s Cabin, our mission is to make quality hunting experiences accessible, welcoming, and unforgettable. We believe the outdoors should be shared — whether you’re sighting in your rifle, teaching your kid how to fish, or watching your dog chase butterflies through the brush.
Our values are rooted in tradition, family, and respect for the land. We’re not a resort — we’re a real working ranch, and we’ve built this place to honor the hunters, gatherers, and good folks who appreciate the wild.
Out here, safety isn’t optional. All guests must sign a release form, and anyone who disrespects gun safety, people, or property will be asked to leave the ranch.
To Our Guests
From Betty Pitts (Granny)
Our private lake has Channel Catfish, Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gill, and Sun perch for all to drop a line and catch the big one. This is a real working ranch with an abundance of wildlife, not to mention our domestic herds of Brangus Cattle, Dexter Cattle, Painted Desert sheep, miniature donkeys, horses, and one bossy, standard-size donkey who does NOT understand personal space named Donkey. We also raise poultry of all sorts from turkeys to Muscovy.
The opportunities are endless – grab the kids, call up the family and friends and come enjoy a nice, quiet fun filled weekend. Leave your troubles back at home and catch fireflies with the kids. Try your hand at smoking meat on a real wood-burning smoker. Sit by the campfire. Roast marshmallows. Play horseshoes and cornhole all under the canopy of huge oak trees right next to the lake.
Watch the eyes of the kids open with excitement as they find arrowheads on the property and I hear tell… “There’s gold in them hills.”
It’s just an hour from the metroplex and we make it easy for you. No need to pack up all the camping supplies or worry about firewood, utensils, camping chairs etc. We have everything you need from fire/cooking wood to outdoor games like glow-in-the-dark bowling.
The cabin and bathhouse are wheelchair accessible and although rustic does have a stove, refrigerator, a/c, and heat. Two twin over full comfy bunk beds and another full bed in an open floor plan. The bathhouse has an indoor/outdoor covered rain shower, toilet, and sink. I call it “glamping,” but the kids call it fun!!! There will be a concierge on the property at all times so if you need anything just holler!
